5,000 to 6,000 Sandhill Cranes are gathering at Haehnle Sanctuary each evening, two hours before sunset. Last year, 1,000 or less were counted. They'll be Haehnle, 20 minutes west of Chelsea, until mid November. www.sandhillcranesgather.com
