It sounds as if it has something to do with investment banking, but Citi Trends, which opened in December in Glencoe Crossing Shopping Center on Washtenaw, calls itself “a value-priced retailer of urban apparel and accessories for the whole family.” The public relations code words appear to translate to “inexpensive clothing targeted at the African American community.” There are about 300 Citi Trends around the country now, and southeastern Michigan has a particularly high concentration.
