Jerry Robbins directs this 70-member adult band in a program of Christmas music that includes Gabrieli's Sonata Pian' e Forte, the Finale to Saint-Saens's Organ Symphony, Sousa's "Stars and Stripes for Christmas," "You`re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," and more. Also, Ariel Toews-Ricotta directs the choir in a program TBA. The concert concludes with a joint performance of the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's Messiah.

Dec. 12 & 13. This 100-member chorus of singers ages 7-18 presents a program of solo, duo, and small-group vocal performances that include new and traditional holiday songs. 7:30 p.m., Saline Middle School auditorium, 7190 N. Maple, Saline.

Dec. 12 & 13 (different locations). Boychoir founder Tom Strode directs this local ensemble of boys ages 9-17 in its 22nd annual Christmas concert. The program opens with the processional "Once in royal David's city," with the 1st verse sung by a solo boy, and concludes with John Gardner's "Tomorrow shall be my dancing day." The program also includes a variety of carols each featuring a solo part showcasing some of the choir's talented boy sopranos, including the Welsh lullaby "Suo Gan," the folk carol "I wonder as I wander," and an exquisite setting of the lovely traditional "Coventry Carol." Also the "Carol of the Bells," John Rutter's sprightly "Donkey Carol," and a stirring rendition of the 16th-century carol "Personent hodie." The Boychoir's Preparatory Choir for boys ages 7-10 also performs the "Coventry Carol," as well as an energetic rendition of "Masters in This Hall." Audience sing-alongs of "Hark! The herald angels sing" and "O come, all ye faithful" are kicked off with a soaring Boychoir descant verse. The Boychoir Christmas CD is on sale. This popular annual concert usually draws a full house, so get your tickets in advance.

Bill Gourley directs this 85-member volunteer ensemble in a program of holiday music, including Dello Joio's Variants on a Mediaeval Tune, William Silvestri's arrangements of "Silent Night" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," Robert Sheldon's arrangement of the Christmas medley A Most Wonderful Christmas, Jerry Brubaker's arrangement of Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard's Polar Express concert suite, and 2 Eric Richards arrangements for military band, Three Hanukkah Themes and Jazz Fantasia on "Greensleeves." Also, a Christmas sing-along.

St. Andrew's music director Deborah Friauff directs the church adult choir and 2 children's choirs and Suzanne Bender directs the bell choir in this traditional English service, in which 9 scripture readings alternate with seasonal anthems and carols, some sung by the congregation. The music begins with a solo treble performance of "Once in Royal David's City" and includes music by Britten, Howells, and Mendelssohn, as well as arrangements of traditional music by David Willcocks and others.
