Fairs, Shows, and Sales

There's plenty of art and art fairs in Ann Arbor those other 361 days a year. A busy museum and gallery circuit provides many openings and shows to choose from. Each month you'll find antique shows, charity sales, and community festivals.

"Festive Friday Holiday Nights": Main Street Area Association.

Every Fri. through Dec. 19. Local entertainers stroll the sidewalks beneath trees twinkling with 100,000 Christmas lights, with many stores open late. Live entertainment TBA. Also, Santa's Mailbox is accepting letters (postage to North Pole courtesy of the MSAA) Nov. 21-Dec. 19 at 332 S. Ashley (in front of Red Shoes). downtown area bounded by Main, Liberty, Washington, and Fourth Ave. Free. 668-7112.

"Himalayan Bazaar in My Garage": Of Global Interest.

Dec. 6 & 20. Show and sale of a range of Nepali gift items, gathered by local adventure tour company owner Heather O'Neal. 120 Eighth St. Free admission. 369-3107.

Sunday Artisan Market.

Every Sun. except Dec. 28. Show and sale of fine crafts, jewelry, soaps, furniture, fiber arts, and gift items. Also, live music TBA. Farmers' Market. Free admission. 665-2009.

11:30 a.m.-7 p.m.

"Hanukkah Wonderland": U-M Chabad House.

Dec. 21-29. This festival features food and craft vendors, kids activities, Jewish film screenings, a Lego menorah contest, cookie decorating, a menorah lighting (5:45 p.m.), and more. Israeli sufganiot (jelly doughnuts) & latkes. The Dec. 24 menorah lighting is followed by Chinese dinner and a family program. 500 E. Washington (lower level). $2.50 admission. 995-3276.
