Pop, Rock, Jazz, and Blues

Nationally known artists visit the Ark, Kerrytown Concert House, other clubs, and campus venues, crowning a flourishing nightlife scene. Home to considerable local talent, Ann Arbor's also a stop for up-and-comers on the college circuit.

Crossroads Summer Festival.

Every Fri., June-Aug. Outdoor stage in downtown Ypsilanti with a variety of dance bands. (In case of rain, held in Club Divine, 25 North Washington.) Tonight: Stella!, a new country trio led by local singer-songwriter Jo Serrapere. Opening act is Bill Bynum & Co., a Downriver singer-songwriter and guitarist whose bluegrass-based songs also draw on old-time, early country, gospel, and contemporary folk music. Laurel Premo and Charlene Kaye: Interfaith Center for Spiritual Growth Cafe 704 Coffeehouse.

Double bill. Premo is a U-M student singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose songs draw on Celtic, Appalachian, Cajun, Scandinavian, and bluegrass influences. Kaye is a smoky-voiced local singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who plays lilting, orchestral pop-folk a la Feist.
