The Phoenix Ensemble offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an intensive week of chamber music, individual lessons and scheduled practice time, general music education and, if they choose, jazz and improvisation.
PhoenixPhest! Grande offers the opportunity to work closely with great teachers and a carefully selected chamber ensemble. Days will include private lessons, scheduled individual practice time in the practice rooms at Eastern Michigan University's music school, chamber music coachings, and group classes.
Suzuki Institute at PhoenixPhest! Grande is a Suzuki string education institute for students learning by the Suzuki Method. This event brings together a stellar faculty from Michigan and across the United States.
We offer: Student programs in violin, viola, cello, and bass
Private lessons for chamber music students
Orchestra, Solfa and general music course offerings for various ages and levels Chamber music for upper-level students
The opportunity to play in a master class for John Kendall or Gabriel Bolkosky (on a first come, first served basis)
Teacher training including Every Child Can -- the one-day introductory course on Suzuki education for parents, prospective teachers, and others, Violin, Cello, and Ronda Cole's Book 1-4 Violin Overview course
For both festivals: Concerts and events including faculty concerts, student recitals and chamber music concerts from the PhoenixPhest chamber music festival. Daytime concerts and recitals are free and open to the public. Evening concerts, to be held at the Holy Trinity Student Parish, 511 West Forest in Ypsilanti (on the EMU campus near Pease Auditorium), are free to registered students of the two institutes, and $15 for others.
