This Brooklyn-born, Chicago-bred monologist, a former interstate trucker and Golden Gloves boxer, is known for his deadpan delivery and endearing but slightly twisted take on a variety of topics, from sports to his Italian family and his own experiences as a dad. EMU theater professors R. MacKenzie Lewis and Ken Stevens direct a staged reading of Brendan Milburn, Rachel Sheinkin, and Valerie Vigoda’s pop musical, a modernization of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Match Girl.” It’s the story of a weary, lonely urbanite who finds a quirky, young woman at his door on New Year's Eve selling lights designed to assuage the seasonal affective disorder common this time of year.
