Western Washtenaw Democrats: Right to Work - What's Next?: Western Washtenaw Democrats.
As the controversial Right to Work legislation becomes law in Michigan, the Western Washtenaw Democrats will present a panel of esteemed speakers to discuss what the consequences of the law will be, what is being done in reaction to the law, and what concerned citizens of Michigan can do to overturn it.
This event will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2013, beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the IBEW Hall at 7920 Jackson Road, in Scio Township.
Panelists will include State Senator Gretchen Whitmer, Karla Swift, President, Michigan AFL-CIO, David Hecker, President, Michigan American Federation of Teachers, and others.
Roy Schmidt, Chair of the Western Washtenaw Democrats and local resident, expects a large turnout. “We hope to provide a forum for an intelligent, reasoned, and relevant discussion of the Michigan version of the right to work law that was passed in December 2012 with no committee discussion and no public participation, by a lame-duck legislature and our Governor.”
