May 26: �Memorial Day Sunday Democratic Ride.� Pace and destination are determined by the assembled riders.

June 2: �Zukey Lake Tavern Brunch Ride.� Fast/moderate-paced 62-mile (476-4944) and slow-paced 40-mile rides to Zukey Lake Tavern in Pinckney for brunch.

June 9: �Wooden Nickel Memorial Ride.� Fast-paced 100-mile ride (476-4944) past the site of the former Wooden Nickel Restaurant to Danville for lunch. 8 a.m., Wheeler Park.

June 16: �Father�s Day Democratic Ride.� Pace and destination are determined by the assembled riders.

Volunteer Stewardship Workday: Ann Arbor Natural Area Preservation Division.

Apr. 7, 13, 20, 21, 27, & 28. All invited to help maintain the natural areas in various city parks. Also, city staffers lead a short nature walk at the end of each workday. Minors must be accompanied by an adult or obtain a release form in advance.

Apr. 7: Dolph Nature Area (9 a.m.-noon, parking lot on the east side of Wagner between Liberty & Jackson) to keep trails open by cutting back invasive shrubs.

Apr. 13: Wurster Park (9 a.m.-noon, meet at the entrance at the cul-de-sac on Edgewood Pl. off W. Davis between Third St. & Fifth St.) to remove garlic mustard and spread woodchips on the trails. Bring a plastic sled to help with the woodchip hauling.

Apr. 20: Lakewood Nature Area (9 a.m.-noon, meet entrance off Central west from Dolph Dr.) to spread woodchips and trim back overhanging vegetation to maintain the trails in this 7-acre woodland. Onder Nature Area (9 a.m.-noon, meet at the entrance on Brookside west from Pontiac Trail north of Barton Dr.) to remove garlic mustard, dame�s rocket, and other invasive plants.

Apr. 21: Sunset-Brooks Nature Area (9 a.m.-noon, Sunset Rd. at the end of Brooks St.) and Huron Hills Golf Course Woods (1-4 p.m., meet at Hunting Valley off Provincial via Arlington Dr. north from Washtenaw east of Manchester) to remove garlic mustard, dame�s rocket, and other invasive plants.

�41st Annual Dance for Mother Earth Ann Arbor Powwow�: U-M Native American Student Association.

Flight Adventures (Sat. 12:30 p.m.) is an audiovisual show examining the science of flight through the eyes of a young girl and her grandfather as they explore how birds, kites, planes, and models fly and learn about the history and future of human flight.

Black Holes (Sat. & Sun. 2:30 p.m.) is an animated show that begins with the formation of the early Universe and the birth and death of stars and concludes with a simulated flight to a supermassive black hole lurking at the center of the Milky Way.

Larry Cat in Space (12:30 p.m. Mar. 29 and Apr. 1-5 only) is a playful cartoon about an inquisitive cat that learns more than it wanted to know about life in space when it stows away on a shuttle to be with its owner, a scientist on her way to the Moon.

�Wedding Band: A Love/Hate Story in Black and White�: EMU Theater Department.

Apr. 5-7 & 11-14. EMU theater professor Wallace Bridges directs EMU drama students in Alice Childress�s poignant 1962 historical drama, set in 1918 South Carolina, about an African American seamstress and a Jewish baker forced to keep their long-standing love affair a secret. Due to the play�s subject matter and stark realism, Childress was unable to get any theatre in NYC to stage it, and the play made its premiere in 1966 at the U-M. Tobin Hissong directs this local professional company in Ken Ludwig�s comedy of errors about opening night at the fictitious Cleveland Grand Opera Company. The star, a world-famous tenor known as �Il Stupendo,� arrives too late to rehearse and then passes out and is taken for dead. Another singer is persuaded to pose as him, but trouble starts when Il Stupendo comes to and tries to reclaim his role.
