This widely heralded Polish-born jazz singer-composer from Chicago who sings in an evocative, satiny alto has won acclaim for her long-lined lyrical phrasing, rhythmic authority, muscular arrangements, and precise, jubilant scatting. "Auguscik is a jazz rarity - a vocalist who, by dint of temperament and training, refuses to rely on mere sentimentality," says Playboy jazz critic Neil Tesser.
