The Blind Pig: Freer.
Detroit R&B-inflected pop-punk quartet band. Opening act is Friendly Foes, a Ferndale indie powerpop trio.

Cavern Club: DJ Helluva & DJ Nik Beats
Local DJs spin old-school rock.

Club Above: Latino Night
DJ Xcess plays salsa, merengue, reggae, and other Latin dance records. Also, salsa lessons, 9-10 p.m.

Club Above: The Vibratrons
(5:30-8:30 p.m.) Debut performance by this all-star band led by veteran local rocker Dan Mulholland, the former leader of the Watusies and several other great local rock 'n' roll bands. Its repertoire includes everything from garage rock and blues to country and folk, and Mulholland says he'll be singing a lot more ballads than usual. With guitarist Brian Delaney, keyboardist Andy Adamson, bassist Randy Tessier, and drummer Rich Dishman.

Conor O'Neill's: DJ Big Daddie. May 3
Twang-filled acoustic country and American roots music by the duo of local singer-guitarists S. G. Wood and Rachel Hercula. Winner of a Detroit Music Award as Best Country Band.

Crazy Wisdom Tea Room: Hana Malhas and Chris Dorman
Double bill. Mahlas is a local singer-songwriter, originally from Jordan, who writes intimate, thoughtful songs and accompanies herself on piano, guitar, and occasionally violin. Dorman is a Lansing singer-songwriter who writes about his friends, family, and local culture.

The Earle: Rick Burgess Trio
Jazz ensemble featuring pianist Burgess, drummer Robert Warren, and bassist Russel Tessier.

Elbow Room: We Are the Fury
Postpunk pop-rock glam quintet from Toledo. Opening acts are the veteran Saline rock 'n' roll band Novada, the Royal Oak rock quintet Brother Ash, and the Downriver indie rock quartet The Handgrenades.

The Firefly Club: Easy Street Swingtet
(5:30-8 p.m.) Dixieland and swing by this local ensemble led by saxophonist and trumpeter Paul Klinger.

The Firefly Club: Lady Sunshine & the X Band.
Local gospel-flavored blues band led by Lady Sunshine, a fiery, rich-voiced singer whose style is something of a cross between Aretha Franklin, Koko Taylor, and Denise LaSalle.

Goodnite Gracie: Laith Al-Saadi
An eclectic mix of jazz, blues, R&B, Motown, and pop, including many originals, by a trio led by this local singer-guitarist.

Guy Hollerin's: Erich Goebel Band
Blues and blues-rock by this Detroit quartet led by singer-guitarist Goebel.

Live at PJ's: "Dance Night."
With DJ Rex.

Melange Subterranean Bistro:

The Necto:
"Pride." DJ Jaces spins high-energy dance tunes in the main room. In the downstairs Red Room, DJ Mark plays retro music videos and DJ John G spins Top 40 records. In the blue room, DJ Mike spins techno records.

The Quarter Bistro: The Groove-Matist
Retro, Top 40, and hip-hop dance party with DJ Mechial White.

TC's Speakeasy: Coyote Grace
Indie pop-folk trio from northern California. Opening acts are Abra Wise, a local acoustic emo singer-songwriter, and another performer TBA.

TC's Speakeasy: Rob Moses
