A former member of the Ann Arbor-bred old-time music group Uncle Earl, this Illinois native began to immerse herself in traditional American music after hearing Doc Watson play “Shady Grove.” She also lived in China for a while in her early 20s, and the result is a repertoire of traditional and original songs, sung in English and Mandarin and accompanied on banjo in sparse arrangements that have some of the concentrated quiet of the music she heard in China. $22.50.
