The Ark: Toad the Wet Sprocket

Veteran alt-pop band led by Glen Phillips, a singer-songwriter known for his guitar-propelled anthems that blend a winning melodicism with an introspective, sometimes wry thoughtfulness. Opening act is Tony Furtado, a West Coast singer- songwriter, banjo player, and slide guitarist whose music, often compared to that of Ry Cooder, is an invigorating fusion of bluegrass, blues, and rock. $45. The Black Pearl: Laith Al-Saadi

Soulful acoustic rock and blues covers and originals by this local singer-guitarist. [venue info]

The Blind Pig: Pharoahe Monch

Veteran Queens hip-hop MC known for his complex delivery and internal and multisyllabic rhyming. Opening acts are the NYC hardcore hip-hop ensemble Boot Camp Clik, the Chicago hip-hip trio Kidz in the Hall, and Brooklyn (NY) hip-hip MC Skyzoo. Advance tickets: price TBA. [venue info]
