This large, busy library circulates books, periodicals, audiobooks on tape and CD, music CDs, videos on VHS and DVD, and art prints. It also has large-print books, low-vision aids, foreign-language books, and books for nonnative readers of English. AADL offers a variety of adult, teen, and youth programs, including the “Sunday Edition” lecture series, which brings in local authors and critics; “Downtown Sounds,” a series of free music concerts; storytimes and play groups for children; Internet classes; Wi-Fi Internet access; free meeting space; and more. Publicly available computers. Main library & all branches: Mon. 10 a.m.–9 p.m., Tues.–Fri. 9 a.m.–9 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sun. noon–6 p.m. Search the catalog online, and reserve materials at www.aadl.org.
AADL branch libraries. The branches—Malletts Creek, 3090 E. Eisenhower; Northeast, 2713 Plymouth (Plymouth Mall); Pittsfield, 2359 Oak Valley; and West, 2503 Jackson (Westgate shopping center)—offer leisure reading, reference, and audiovisual materials for adults and children, as well as the programs mentioned above in the main library listing. Circulating material from the main library can be sent to any of the branches (and vice versa).

Books and magazines on cassettes and in Braille and large print are available by postage-free mail. Staff can assist with selections and answer requests. Reading machines available for on-site use.
